Taxus Natural Deadwood Inspiration

The bleached white deadwood seen on many coniferous bonsai is often accused of looking unnatural and artificial, yet high in the hills and mountains of Wales and Northern England, wild trees are bleached white by prolonged exposure to the sun. These trees make great inspiration when creating bonsai. Below are some recent photos taken of wild Taxus baccata in Cumbria.
